Topic: Accidental cut-off edit reason

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

My phone screen glitched out when I tried to make an edit and it got cut off on the "reason" field, is there any way to revert or edit the field back?

I wouldn't worry about having an edit reason when you're changing/adding tags. you really only need to add a reason if you think the edit is going to be controversial or the tag's been added or removed on its own before and you feel the need to justify the change.

Thing is, I have changed the posts rating from E to Q, which can be a bit controversial I suppose. Still stand on my change but wonder about the result of it in that matter.

I have made another edit with the correct reason now... I hope it doesn't affect it much.

No, once a post edit, wiki edit, or replacement has been submitted, there's no takebacks short of masking another edit. That's often not worth it when it comes to editing a reason. The vast majority of time, post edits and wiki edits aren't given reasons (though it can be useful for wiki edits), and it's not mandatory to give them any, although it's a good idea to include one when one of the reasons dba afish gives above might come into play. Replacements should always have reasons, though it's a courtesy rather than being mandatory so an approver will have an easier time knowing why the replacement is being made.

An edit like that doesn't hurt to have a reason added in, but if you forget to put one in or your phone pranks you, it won't cause you any problems on e621.

Regardless, your phone pranking you like it did won't cause you any problems on e621. You needn't worry about it.

Thanks for explaining it! I think some sort of confirmation box could be great on this scenario, but will save that for the suggestions forum.

not a confirmation button, but on my user profile's about section I've got some mobile-focused CSS tweaks that you can add to the css sheet in your advanced user settings, including some that move the stuff like the edit submit button away from the edges to make it more difficult to hit them accidentally and/or easier to use ambidextrously. these might help.
