Topic: Tag Alias: evals_(twokinds) -> evals

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Then the new evals would get the associated artist or copyright in parentheses.

So basically how it is right now? I don't see the need to change it.

I agree with this reasoning. Changing it currently benefits no one except for people who don't want to type the extra parens or add a * after the name.

We change it because:

A: It never should have had the _(*) in the first place, we fix bad tagging because it is bad tagging, there doesn't have to be any other reason.
B: It makes searching easier, if you wanted to find Evals you would search that first and not get any results, which may cause you to assume that he isn't posted here.
C: It makes typing the search faster, since it's shorter.

As for other characters being created with that name, we would deal with it in that situation.
Otherwise we should add a _(*) description to every tag we make, just in case of future tag conflicts.

@Halite

A: I don't think that we have consistent rules about it. Look at all those *_(mlp) tags. They were created long before it could be predicted that such abomination like Equestria Girls will come, and in some cases mlp suffix is still unnecessary.

B and C can be also done by reversed alias.

I generally ignore MLP when discussing tagging issues, since it tends to cause exceptions so frequently.

Do you think it's appropriate to just add unneeded _(*) things to tags?
I could see doing so when tag conflict is highly likely, like if someone made a character with a fairly common name that wasn't currently tagged on an existing image.
But an odd name like "Evals" seems unlikely to ever need a differentiation.
