Does the suffix need to be the specific type/genre of game? Isn't _(game) enough to disambiguate it? Maybe _(video_game) if there's a non-video game variation, but I don't like the precedent of suffixing the type of game.

There are quite some tags with the visual novel suffix.
I honestly think visual novels are distinct enough from other types of games. The other ones should not be suffixed but I think this one is fine.
