Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: disiwjd -> ililliiiilillll

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #65034 disiwjd -> ililliiiilillll has been rejected.

Reason: https://twitter.com/IllIlllIlllIlIl

That's literally the artist's twitter name... It's kinda confusing to even search, but, an alias is an alias, and it has its evidence to change it.

EDIT: The tag alias disiwjd -> ililliiiilillll (forum #382538) has been rejected by @slyroon.

I still think we should just let them have it, if they want a horrible difficult-to-search username and nobody can find their stuff anymore, that's on them. Keeping the status quo isn't really that much better either, it's only marginally easier to tell the difference between random keysmash usernames.

We shouldn't be assigning people names that they haven't chosen themselves, other than cases where we need to add a suffix or convert a name to the Latin alphabet.

wait, why should the tag be ililliiiilillll when the twitter handle is IllIlllIlllIlIl, not IlIllIIIIlIllll?

it really does look like you posted the same thing twice

it's supposed to have five Is and ten ls with no consecutive Is and no strings of ls longer than thee, but the tag has seven Is and eight ls with a 4-length strings of Is and ls. obviously.

but yeah, this is a dumb artist name. I think we ought avoid using intentionally confusing/hard to read artist names like this in whenever we can. like, when the users who were upvoting the tag couldn't even tell that the tag was totally misspelled it's a problem.

I didn't really take the time to compare them because never in my life did I expect the OP to just make their own best guess at what the username was supposed to be rather than actually copy/pasting it

there will be at least 1 person forever heartbroken from this decision thinking their favorite artist vanished from the internet

If the previous alias is known, then they could still find it.
