So there's this tag, extinct, and I'm not sure what to do with it. It currently consists of images depicting extinct animals, as you might expect, so the options are to either get rid of it, or imply a bunch of extinct animal groups (dinosaurs would be a big one, since the e621 definition of dinosaur excludes birds) to it. What say you?

I'd say invalidate it since it does not seem to serve a purpose other than it being tagged on posts that depict an extinct species.
Maybe there is a kink out there for extinct animals repopulating the world?

Maybe, but if we do that it'll end up having tens of thousands of images. I think it's worth discussing before making that kind of change.

what about lazarus species or what if that one company successfully de-extincts the dodo?

In any case, it should not be tagged on any living characters since it violates TWYS.
If we tag extinct because we know it is a real-world extinct species, then it will become TWYK.

I guess you could make that tag...
