Therians imo: worse than a degen. They BELIEVE they ARE the animal trapped in a human body.

That's how it goes. It's just my thoughts and it usually goes unspoken....but we all know there's a scale to these things.
We see it online, we see it in our friends, we see it at conventions. The scale is there, in the bcak of our heads.
I'm personally a Furry Degenerate & a Spirit Animal Furry. I have Possum-like behavior and associate it heavily with possums.

If I had a fursuit, it'd be a possum, I want a possum pet.

But no description for furry itself?

Some of those things are funny to see on a "scale". Consumers of art might not even consider themselves furries, for example.

I also should have added BRONY but They are a branch of the Furry spectrum. As much as some of them don't like to consider.

That's just a Furry in denial. You can watch MLP, and look at MLP art and then say you're not a Brony...but you're a brony. It's the same jist I would think.

But if you look at the content, breathe the content, make the content.
You are part of the content, to a certain extent. It may just not be in *your own* eyes.

I apologize for necro bumping the thread but I gotta make a confession. I used to be a furry degenerate in denial (fetish art creator/consumer). To clarify, I was more-less open about being a degenerate but I chose not to affiliate myself with the furry society itself. Well, for quite some time now, I'm no longer in denial. :v It was a great decision in the long run.

Two years later let's keep it going lol. I think my experience into the fandom was pretty similar tho. Way back when, I seen a NSFW picture of Renamon somewhere on the intraweb and I had a big crush on her as a kid. I know, basic furry intro. Well this new found interest eventually led me to here on e6. But when I seen it was a furry site I told myself I was "only here for renamon" and "I'm not a furry, I just like this one character".

Furry haters have always been prominent and this stopped me from venturing out any further than Renamon pics. I was a furry in denial. But now, I'm not exactly shouting it off rooftops, I'm a full on furry degenerate. A humble degenerate, if you will.

There's a point after you've been in the fandom for over a decade where you start cycling between being absolutely a furry and being furry-adjacent. You'll get really into cons and art and fursuiting, and then you'll get burnt out or not have enough time or you'll see some drama that turns you off for a while, and then you'll join a furry discord again and take a commission and go to a con and get really into it again, and then the cycle repeats.

Furry art's cool. Not gonna call myself a "degenerate" for liking it though, and I think we'd all be better off if we didn't.

Normalize liking cool shit, even if it's sexual. We're all adults here, I presume.

Well furries can try to normalize it all we want but it's ultimately up to non furry folks and I don't see that happening any time soon. And since it's how the majority of society sees us, calling myself a "degenerate" is, for me at least, like Tyrion Lannister rules: "Wear it like armor and it can never be used to hurt you"
