Yes, there are two kinds of orioles: the Old World orioles, which form the family Oriolidae, and the not-particularly-related but superficially similar New World orioles, which form the genus Icterus, which is part of the family Icteridae along with grackles, cowbirds, and certain blackbirds.

On that basis, oriole and oriole_(bird) should probably be aliased to oriole_(disambiguation).

Here's a fun fact about me: despite, or perhaps because of, the fact I've been birding for about 20 years, I'm not really into birds as a furry.

In that case, agreed that it should go to that tag. Wasn't aware of the difference (and wasn't aware the tag existed.)
