The tag alias #62121 platform_missionary_position -> table_lotus_position is pending approval.

Reason: As far as I can tell, these are near-identical positions except for platform_missionary_position, the intent is that the top is leaning forward. This becomes a headache when the lean isn't plainly visible or you need to judge exactly how much someone is leaning for it to count and it all becomes an exercise in tedium. For the sake of avoiding needless division and not overcomplicating the lives of both taggers and searchers, I'd rather streamline things.

So many identifiable positions have grey-area between them I think that's the reason we end up with things like missionary_position^{Supposed to be a specific position} tagged for any from_front_position with the receiver on their back.
I really don't think there's a problem with having more-precise tags, as long as there's a broader-umbrella to group them together. The alternative that you're leaning toward is having only the umbrella and outright banning tags that differentiate variations.

I don't mind having variations, I just want variations that won't result in difficulties for taggers or searchers potentially missing out on posts.

Is there a reason why table lotus was chosen as the name instead of platform missionary? Platform missionary sounds more descriptive imo

Admittedly I don't have a preference between the names, I just went with the tag that's more populated. I don't mind swapping the alias.

I believe it was stated in a previous thread that it started as a temporary placeholder name, then it was left for too long and the usage took off.
Aside from that very few table lotus posts fit the criteria for missionary itself.^{much in the way a large volume of missionary_position is not as-defined, but instead similar positions.}

Well, platform missionary doesn't meet the requirements for missionary itself, technically.

Both characters should be lying down, or at least in generally horizontal position. If the top is kneeling or standing, anvil position or table lotus position is usually more appropriate.
