Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: ventkazemaru -> otter_(artist)

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #61260 ventkazemaru -> otter_(artist) has been rejected.

Reason: This artist prefers to go by Otter now, as clearly stated in this journal. I'm not sure if his e621 artist page will auto-update with the alias, but he has one.

VentKazemaru
call me OTTER

If there's a better way to title it. I'm open to suggestions. VentKazemaru is an artifact now. I'd rather not use it.

EDIT: The tag alias ventkazemaru -> otter_(artist) (forum #356927) has been rejected by @gattonero2001.

Even with an artist suffix, "Otter" seems too basic and easy to become ambiguous. There are already artists that go by otterbreath, salt_otter, ottermajor, ... so some other artist popping up being known as "Otter" isn't out of the question.

Their Patreon is named "StarDragon". Is it possible we can work that in somehow? Zeorps' link shows they no longer want to use VentKazemaru.

Perhaps I was too hasty suggesting this and something less ambiguous will come up in the journal I linked.

Yeah, I agree here. It's best just to leave the name be. I didn't consider the the word is too common and only meant to respect his wishes.

I removed otter_(artist) from the single post I added it to prior to this alias request.

To be fair, the artist is allowed to submit a name change, themselves, right? Same with adding aliases to Wiki?

Yes, but that doesn't necessarily make it more likely to get approved.

It would be much easier to approve if there was at least a random number at the end or something like that

otter (artist), cat (artist), dog (artist), fox (artist), dragon (artist), horse (artist)... yeah, I'm not too keen on that precedent
