Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: countershade_thighs -> countershade_legs

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #60427 countershade_thighs -> countershade_legs has been rejected.

Reason: Visually, there is no difference between countershade thighs and countershade legs.

If anything, I think they should be reversed. "Countershade legs" makes me think of something like socks_(marking), where the leg has two different colors between the thigh/upper leg area and the shin/foot area, rather than the thigh itself having two different shades.

foot, heel, shin, knee, thigh(, hip) = leg

Should we have all those seven? Then perhaps implication rather than alias.

I wouldn't expect to have an image with something like shading applied to thigh, but not applied to shin, but of course that could be. Not sure, though, if anyone is interested in searching with the distinction. Would anyone really make a search:

-countershade_shin countershade_knee -countershade_thigh

Sounds like a very precise kink.

I was thinking the same at first, since this type of countershading is mostly on the thighs. However, I opted out on that idea, since countershade_legs can also suggest countershading on the entire leg incl. the thighs.

Here are some examples:

Do you mean something like these?

If so, than those are just countershade_legs + socks_(marking). Markings don’t count as countershading. Sometimes they share the same color (as seen above), but not always:

I would think an implication would make more sense. Especially considering how much just-the-thighs countershading seems to be a fairly common variant of countershade_legs, but they both give notably different styles. I can see linking them with an implication, but I don't really see an advantage in losing the ability to search for one vs the other.

Hello, just came to check on this request.

After reading your opinions again (as well as the last statement I made), an implication would indeed make more sense. There are many artworks here that require a countershade_thighs tag, but it should be manageable to update them in a short amount of time.

I’ll make a new request.
