Topic: [REJECTED] Tag implication: meicrackmon_vicious_mode -> meicrackmon

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag implication #47357 meicrackmon_vicious_mode -> meicrackmon has been rejected.

Reason: Meicrackmon Vicious Mode is an alternative form of Meicrackmon. Please implicate the tags.

Update: though they are different forms, they are still the same Meicrackmon. They should be related.

EDIT: The tag implication meicrackmon_vicious_mode -> meicrackmon (forum #349174) has been rejected by @gattonero2001.

They're separate forms so should be kept separate, like how mega_charizard_x doesn't implicate charizard. This helps people find images that just have meicrackmon, otherwise that search will be mixed with the two. It also helps people find images that have both forms, since otherwise searching meicrackmon+meicrackmon_vicious_mode will return images that have just meicrackmon_vicious_mode.

For something like this to work, normal meicrackmon would need to be moved to its own tag, which both that and meicrackmon_vicicous_mode can then imply a base tag (like how shaymin works).

I see. I’m sorry. It’s just that I was mad that some of my uploads were edited without permission. Especially the altering of the tags. I’m sorry. 😞

I have an idea! How about we do the same thing with Lycanroc with Midday form, Midnight form and Dusk form? Both Meicrackmon’s can have the same name but have different tags alongside them. The cute Meicrackmon can be the original form and Meicrackmon Vicious Mode can have her tag.

That's basically why I mentioned:

Someone would have to change the tag on existing meicrackmon posts to a new 'normal form' tag, get people to use that tag for the normal form, then have both the normal form and vicious mode tags imply a base meicrackmon tag.

Okay. But I have made a new tag called ‘meicrackmon_(original)’. Would that be okay?

I might be nitpicking but neither of these are a direct parallel in naming conventions.
Lycanroc doesn't have a "vanilla" form (and so a grouping tag doesn't displace anything)
Similarly, Shaymin's formes are both officially named.
But Meicrackmon's "vanilla" form is directly named as merely Meicrackmon. Digimon alt evos also aren't bound to a single Pokédex number.

There are a few other *_form Digimon tags but I'm not sure this has come up yet. Personally I wouldn't be against forcing only the _form tag on posts that contain the relevant alt evos and not the standard evo. There's not much to clean up if that's the way it goes.

I don't think there's any policy that says you can only have a base tag implied by individual forms if that's how they're officially delineated (e.g. lycanroc/shaymin). It's just that for most species that get a new form after the fact like this, changing the existing posts for the original form to a new tag and getting people to use the new tag for the original form, is too much work, as there can be hundreds or thousands of such posts and people are too used to referring to the normal form by the base name. If people are just going to use the base tag for the normal form instead of the normal form specific tag, while the other forms all implicate the base tag, you'd end up with the original problem that the current setup tries to avoid (making it difficult/impossible to search for the normal form specifically).

I just don't know if meicrackmon is at a point where people would catch on to a new tag specific for the normal form, instead of continuing to tag just meicrackmon for the normal form. If people won't use a new tag for the normal form, it should be left as it is, meicrackmon_vicious_mode not implying meicrackmon and not tagging meicrackmon for meicrackmon_vicious_mode.
