Topic: Tag alias in wrong direction?

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

As it currently stands, pup_hood aliases to pup_mask. It should be the other way around. The item is called a "pup hood" and so THAT is what should be the alias result.

An alias means the word is equal. It doesn't matter for which of both you search, you will find the same thing. There is no reason to flip it.

Although, to be fair, it seems that we try to make it the more common term...

I agree with this, an alias doesn't necessarily mean a word is equal, and the most common term should be used.

However... in this case I'm not seeing any solid evidence that "pup hood" is used significantly any more than "pup mask" to say that it's the primary name that we should be using. Google Trends puts them on almost equal footing with "hood" ever so slightly higher. Searching both in Google finds pretty much all the same results because most websites call it both things for SEO purposes.

I have heard more people calling it a hood than a mask, but that's circumstantial evidence really. It probably would be better flipped, but on the other hand it doesn't really matter in the slightest since both terms are just as understood.
