That would be reasonable too. I feel that "finger" could be considered more descriptive of the act than "air," but as long as both terms lead to a canonical one, we'll have our bases covered.

I'm inclined to reverse the implication, too. After all, in pictures by this fandom, there's no guarantee the air quoter is using fingers.

I was on the fence with this one until I read this. "Finger quotes" implies that there's fingers but there could also be tentacles or whatever weird appendages characters could have. +1 for air quotes.

That's a good point. I can't recall any instances of this myself, but it's a perfectly legit variation on the idea.

It seems backwards, because of more generic case covering all instances of the concept, not just fingers. I vote to reverse it to alias finger_quotes -> air_quotes , too.
