Topic: [REJECTED] Tag implication: sheathjob -> sheath_play

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

I wonder if it wouldn't be better to have tags like handjob_through_sheath, footjob_through_sheath, masturbation_through_sheath, etc, instead. It seems people are already mixing up sheathjob (sex, a character doing it to another) with autosheathjob (masturbation, a character doing it to themselves), and sheathjob/autosheathjob doesn't distinguish whether it's being done with hands, feet, arms, a full body, etc.

Not a bad idea, though sheathjobs are pretty niche already. And more specific tags like footjob_through_sheath would be even more niche.

(Also for anyone else reading this. This forum post is about giving sheathjob the implication of sheath play.)

It's still a useful distinction, I think. As I mentioned, a number of posts with the tag were confusing sex ("sheathjob") for masturbation ("autosheathjob") already. I also don't think it's that niche that there shouldn't be a distinction between using hands, feet, or something else on the sheath since the limb used can be an important point for some peoples' interest or disinterest. There are already tags like sheath_play to indicate more general sexual-activity-with-the-sheath stuff, so having "sheathjob" also be a rather general tag would dilute it's potential growth.

You completely missed that originally, the tag was for both doing it to someone else, and doing it to oneself. I just didn't think of that distinction between masturbation and not, when writting the wiki for the already existing tag.
And you can search for multiple tags. Like "Sheathjob Masturbation" to get what someone looking for a character masturbating using their own sheath wants.

sheath_play is a very generic tag. It literally means any form of interaction with the sheath. That isn't really comparable to a much more specific tag like sheathjob.
And I see what you mean with "diluting its growth." Because if it is nice and orderly like all the big and popular tags, then people will take it more seriously and use it more.
But that's ignoring that, for people to use a tag, they need to know that it exists! And if you split up the tag as much as you're saying, then each tag would have like three, two, or even just one post. (Which E6 even marks as a mistake.)
Which are way easier to forget about or just write off completely, due to the low amount of posts that use them. If it was just one or two tags with one or two dozen posts each, not only would people encounter the same exact tag more frequently, and thus it will be easier to remember and recall when tagging. But when it is used, it doesn't just show you a baren list with one or two posts on top of the one you came from.

So no, splitting it up into even more specific tags (Beyond what you already did.) will not help it grow. It would literally kill it as a tag.

Also I really wish E6 had reply notifications. It is really really weird that it doesn't have that yet...

All the other *job tags (handjob, tonguejob, beakjob, tentaclejob, footjob) describe a sexual act being done by someone to someone else, and have auto* variants when it's masturbation (autofootjob, autotonguejob, etc). It doesn't make sense for sheathjob to be different and cause confusion.

Unless someone's masturbating while a non-masturbatory sheathjob is also going on.

Sexual interaction with a sheath, which will primarily be causing stimulation. How many examples do you see in sheath_play that wouldn't fit your definition of sheathjob?

Do you really think there's only a handful of posts on this site that actually depict this kind of thing? I think you're not giving it enough credit. If it's a useful tag, there will be enough uses. Put it on enough posts, other people will notice it and start tagging it themselves if they also find it useful. But making a mess of the tag (by making it not fit the expected pattern, and making it too broad in meaning) isn't how you make a successful tag, that's how you get tags that are eventually aliased away for being too broad or too close to other tags.
