Makes sense to me, you died alone could be confused for a POV where the viewer is about to die/is dying, or be added to a post where there's some sort of fatal "game over" that doesn't involve the "You Died" message. Having it alias to you died (meme) would (hopefully) push the uploader/tagger to find a different tag if it falls under those two situations.

If that wasn't enough, variations on "You Died" puts it concretely in "should be described as a meme" territory.
