The tag alias #59172 spade_(shovel) -> spade_(tool) is pending approval.

Though it is worth noting that they are VERY similar tools, both used what essentially amounts to digging earth, so there is an argument to alias it to shovel
Yeah, I guess... I wasn't really separating trowels, etc. when trying to find all the shovel-like tools in those results.
to be fair, they are rarely if ever tagged lol
but on topic, there are ambiguous cases like post #911055
anyway, went ahead and added trowel tags where relevant

A spade is a shovel, but not all shovels are spades. Sort of like both a mallet is a hammer, but you you wouldn't generally be pounding nails with one.
honestly do we even need spade_(tool) to be a separate tag from shovel? I feel like, for tagging purposes, they're identical. also they can have pointed, spade-shaped blades as well, see: Wikipedia entry for spade and shovel, I think pretty much only garden spades have the flat blade.
unless we're going to expand the shovel tag to a whole tag family with implications from trowel, spade, umm e-tool, etc. I don't really see the point.

Sorry, got done with a tagging spree and only now came back after taking a break. I guess so? My main goal was to have all the tools separated from other 'spades', then we could handle them case-by-case with someone that can see a bit better or has better definitions. XD
AFAICT, people don't seem to like having 40 different types of shovels but there's so few examples of spades, I'm not sure it matters?

pretty much any shovel that's meant to be used to dig into the ground or through loose rock is a spade, unless it's a trowel or an entrenching tool. most other shovels are used to scoop or move looser materials like snow.
