Topic: [Feature] Blacklist toggle in user settings page

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Requested feature overview description.
Add an additional toggle for the blacklist on the user settings page, in the same place that blacklisted tags are defined.

Why would it be useful?
Many users accidentally disable their blacklist and get confused how to re-enable it again (topic #34867 is an example, but also many others), which would be solved a lot easier if there was a toggle directly below the blacklisted tag list on the user settings.

What part(s) of the site page(s) are affected?

honestly, having it on nearly all of the pages would be useful, I often want to be able to toggle it on the forums so that it's a bit easier to tell who's comment I'm reading or to look at thumb # stuff

I'd prefer to keep the option to disable it on the same page without requiring a reload, given that I toggle mine on and off semi-frequently.

I would be open to a "noob guard" similar to the posting form, where the convenient option doesn't appear unless you enable an option in your settings page which is off by default. This would probably stem 99% of the tsunami of idiots who think they are the first person to report the "bug" of a "broken blacklist" on the forums.

The old site had an option to always disable the blacklist for avatars. I keep begging the staff to bring it back to no avail.

On the topic of common blacklist "bugs": if a user's blacklist is one line long and contains at least one space or comma, the page should show a warning that it looks like they probably misread the instructions.

I don't want to remove where it currently is, but just add an additional toggle (reworded the OP to make this a little clearer) especially since the way it currently works would be required for fine tuning which parts of your blacklist are enabled at any point in time.

The addition to the settings page would just be a simple on/off imo.

yeah, having a legacy blacklist function so that it only hides stuff from the search and does nothing else would be such an amazing option. it's honestly a bit more annoying than it is helpful most of the time to have the blacklist hide stuff on the forums, comments, pools, etc. I can see why some or even most users would want it, since I'd imagine lots of people are blacklisting stuff that they find morally reprehensible or disgusting, and I'm just sitting here using it to not have to wade through stuff I don't care much for when I'm browsing posts, but when I'm doing literally anything else it's a borderline nuisance.
