Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: doofapus -> dr._heinz_doofenshmirtz

Sometimes alternative species of characters do get tags. I'm not exactly sure what the criteria is, other than being official in the source material rather than a fan creation. Doofapus is apparently real.

flutterbat_(mlp) and link_(wolf_form) are the only two examples I can think of right now but I know there's more. Bowsette however got aliased away to bowsette_meme as it wasn't an official character.

goat_lucifer_(helltaker), sans_(underfell), pinkamena (mlp), these are all fan-based renditions of official characters

Goat Lucifer was drawn by Vanripper for the Helltaker comics, so that's canon. and for the other two it'd be kinda hard to find posts with them without having tags for the alternate versions. (if Goat Lucifer wasn't something from official media the tag wouldn't be necessary, we have furrification and that'd really be all that was needed)

That shouldn't. How can you find an image with both forms?

Is Doofapus a canon thing, or a fan thing?

I do think we should start having alternate forms of characters imply a base tag for the character regardless of form. Use a (normal_form) suffixed tag for the regular form a character takes (when they have any prominent alternate form - wouldn’t be necessary for most characters) so that you can still find posts containing both, or easily exclude alternate forms, while still having a base tag for allowing people to search for the character regardless of form and without always having to use ~ modifiers.

if we do move in that direction it might be best for it to be done on a case-by-case basis. for characters that look fairly similar to their base form, like meowser, most of sonic_the_hedgehog's various transformations/forms/incarnations, etc. it'd be fine to just have the character imply the base tag, but for characters that look nothing like their base form like link_(wolf_form) it might be better to not imply it.
