Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: talia_(fluff-kevlar) -> nytra_(fluff-kevlar)

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #57694 talia_(fluff-kevlar) -> nytra_(fluff-kevlar) has been rejected.

Reason: There are posts of works from 2012, 2016 and 2017 that may cause a bit of confusion (as the images contain the name "Talia"), yet as this is a character update directly from @fluff-kevlar I am putting it out there for consistency and accuracy
post #239973 post #1141105 post #1572520

I will quote F-K from this June 2022 FA post

(i'm just going to call her Nytra from now on, Talia is too close to Tala, and really, Nytra is not her own character, she is just female Nytro, so to avoid some confusion, we'll stick with this)

EDIT: The tag alias talia_(fluff-kevlar) -> nytra_(fluff-kevlar) (forum #336698) has been rejected by @gattonero2001.

If she is "just female Nytro", then tagging those posts nytro_(fluff-kevlar) mtf_crossgender would be more adequate. We generally don't create alternative tags for crossgender depictions of characters.

If that is the case, should talia_(fluff-kevlar) be invalidated?

The character tag talia_(fluff-kevlar) has been in use here for (at least) 5 years now; I am just going by what F-K themselves (now) calls the mtf_crossgender version of their character nytro_(fluff-kevlar), as they "named" the (female Nytro) character as early as 2012 post #239973

I mean, that's not necessarily true, look at these square_crossover duo chartags:>1, we do have tags for other characters who are just AU/clones/whatever of existing characters, honestly we do it for less, even; stuff like sonic_the_werehog and link_(wolf_form) exist, and those aren't even separate characters, they're just transformations.
usually we only avoid adding tags for crossgender versions of an existing character if it was created by a third party. but in this case it's a character created by the same artist that created the original, and has been given an official name, the tag should be valid.

I know that crossgender characters from official franchises generally do not get their own name tag, but for OC's they end up as a separate distinct character half the time anyway. Should we consider an exception for OC's?

Hi there- I'm not sure which route to go with or really what to say here, BUT, if it were up to me, i'd invalidate the 'Talia_(fluff-kevlar') and just use 'Nytro_(fluff-kevlar), crossgender' personally, since that's all she ever really was. I think at the time I had intended for Talia to be their own character but it just didn't happen, and I only ever drew her like 5 times, and forgot about her so hard that I made Tala, without realizing I already had a 'Talia', and didn't like how they were 1 letter away from confusion, especially when I have that issue with other OCs already, ARA-Ark-Ayn, etc. Just my two cents!

Your 0.02 goes a long way here, F-K, as these are your characters, and your work; I will be most happy to have my alias request denied :O
Invalidation of both talia_(fluff-kevlar) & nytra_(fluff-kevlar) seems like a good plan, as suggested by gattonero2001, and supported by @fluff-kevlar

Thank you for taking an interest, and well, for being pretty awesome
