Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: fox_shadow_puppet -> fox_sign

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #57540 fox_shadow_puppet -> fox_sign has been rejected.

Reason: Fox_sign would be a more applicable tag than fox_shadow_puppet, as very few of the characters making the sign on posts tagged fox_shadow_puppet are doing so for the purpose of making a shadow puppet; rather, they are just making a hand sign.

EDIT: The tag alias fox_shadow_puppet -> fox_sign (forum #334359) has been rejected by @spe.

Wikipedia calls this the silent fox signal, but it's also used by Turkish nationalists, and in that context it's called the wolf salute

I worry fox_sign might be too ambiguous since it could refer to like, a sign with a fox on it. What about fox_gesture?
Actually hold on a second, our hand_gesture tags are split between *_gesture, *_(gesture), and *_sign. We should standardize those. I guess my vote would be for *_gesture.

It can also be 'ki' or fox ears in Japanese sign language. Fox_hand_gesture or fox_ears_gesture would be clearest I think?

+1 to *_gesture
