Wouldn't this be better off reversed? "Dakimakura" is just the Japanese term for body pillow, you'd have to be either familiar with Japanese or with otaku subculture to know the term (which I'm sure a lot of people on this site are, but still), it's not as plain and descriptive for tagging as "body pillow".

I have no preference which way around it goes, I most commonly see "dakimakura" when people are talking about them but I see the benefits of using the English name too.

On one hand, dakimakura_design involves a Japanese word, which is something we often avoid if possible. On the other hand, dakimakura_design is consistent with dakimakura_pillow, which is different than just a body_pillow due to having a design on it*, so I dunno...

Please always include a reason, no matter how obvious you think it is.

Usually people who have those kinds of body pillows, or those who know about them at all, know they're also called daki's or dakimakuras. I know it seems completely arbitrary to have this one single tag be the japanese name for it, but it's too ubiquitous for it not to be used.

Maybe five years ago, but 'body pillow' seems common enough nowadays. I think this could be reversed.

This. Currently, dakimakura_pillow implies body_pillow, with the distinction being that a dakimakura is any body-length pillow with a design of a character along the length of it, whereas body_pillow -dakimakura_pillow should be just body-length pillows without the design.

I think this is a useful distinction worth keeping, so the current alias would be more useful in maintaining that distinction.

This. Its a useful distinction.

dakimakura may be a Japanese word but it's used quite frequently in the furry community by people who speak English to refer to these types of pillows. And of course a body pillow with a design on it is a dakimakura so I agree with this alias.
