Topic: taur means the body type, right?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

the wiki page for taur states:

A multi-legged character whose lower body is that of a feral creature, and the upper body of an anthro, human, or humanoid. Based on the centaur, a creature from Greek mythology.

citing this, why do i keep running into results for bovine, minotaur results? are people tagging those with something that aliases to taur results or is there just a larger misconception about what taur means?

i do my best to edit tags whenever i see this, i just want to know if theres something bigger causing this that im missing. (mentioning this because ive expressed annoyance with people tagging things weird before and was just told "well fix it yourself", when i do). no hate to big cow friends, just not what im looking for.

My guess is that people see the -taur suffix in minotaur and mistakenly think taur, the body type, applies when it doesn't. About all that can be done, methinks, is to remove it manually whenever it pops up where it shouldn't.

The origin of the term "taur" to mean what it does to furries basically comes from the word "centaur" which possibly means "bull slayer" it's easy to see why there's so much confusion. This may be due to a misunderstanding of the word, someone possibly assuming it means 'six limbs" or something, that I cannot tell you, but the term stuck.
