Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: imminent_foo -> imminent

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #54546 imminent_foo -> imminent_(disambiguation) has been rejected.

Reason: There's about an extensive list of tags such as:

imminent_death
imminent_rape
imminent_vore
imminent_tentacle_rape

A user has to not only block tags such as "death," "rape," "vore" etc. but with all of these "imminent" tags they then have to hunt down the "imminent" versions of each tag and blacklist those as well.

This seems like a form of blacklist evasion, because a person who doesn't want to see "rape" obviously doesn't want to see "imminent rape."

I recommend adding a tag category "imminent" and then merging all of these under that category.

Please forgive me if I'm not making this request in the correct forum or using the correct format -- I often do things outside of looking at e621.

EDIT: The tag alias imminent_foo -> imminent (forum #317756) has been rejected by @bitWolfy.

Not necessarily. Someone may not want to see rape itself, but be less bothered by or are ambivalent to imminent rape which is not yet happening. Or maybe they want to find images of rape, but not want to get images of imminent rape where it's not yet happening. Same for vore, death, etc. Having them separate allows for greater flexibility in letting people find or avoid what they want.

So, uh, what the heck is imminent_foo?

Also, your proposed solution would also have to include things like imminent_sex, which most people here presumably don’t want to blacklist. Because of that, I don’t see this being very useful. What I would prefer would be to have some sort of umbrella tag that would group together everything in these related topics. So, for example, an umbrella vore tag that is implied by regular vore as well as all other vore-related topics such as imminent_vore and inside_mouth. That way, you could blacklist all of them at once.

foo

is just a stand-in (as far as I've seen it used at least) for any other term. Albert was just asking that these tags imply an umbrella tag over them. imminent seems like a bad idea though, as these various imminent cases are far different. Somebody might like vore but not several others, but imminent -imminent_vore would then let in imminent rape if imminent vore was also about to happen.

It's a hell of a lot better solution than attempting to nuke the imminent tags out of existence.

Oh, I hadn't even noticed it was an alias request until I read your comment, I thought it was an implication request.

Albert, you should consider using the Request BUR link in the future for a number of items, as well as remember the following:

  • Update foo -> rah: Replace all current foo with rah, but let foo be tagged in the future
  • Alias foo -> rah: Always replace foo with rah, this happens after update. Use both together if you're aliasing to a disambiguation and all but one result were already cleaned out.
  • Imply foo -> rah: Keep foo but also add rah
  • Category foo -> general Change foo's category to general, species, artist, etc.

Mentioning: Just fixed spelling on some questionable 'immenent' tags. immenent_doom immenent_gas -> imminent_doom imminent_gas
I THINK those tags might not be particularly useful, but just fixed the spelling for now.
Sorry if this should have been a new post - was trying to keep related discussions together.
