Topic: have you ever avoided commenting on a post because the last comment was made many years ago?

Posted under General

Why wouldn't I? If I see a nice post and I want to say something, it doesn't matter for me if it was from 12 years ago, I'll still comment on it.

I would avoid replying to old comments, tho.

Edit: would ---> wouldn't

It's even more true when I feel that the art were underated. So I try to make an brief analysis of the post, or compliment a certain aspect of the image and I also try to congratulate the artist, wherever they are by now... Hopefully still doing their craft or whatever gives them joy. :))

This isn't 4chan, you're not going to bump it and get sage bombed, just don't expect a response.

Nah. If something needs pointing out it doesn't matter how old it is. That's the beauty of the internet.

It's amusing to get a reply to a 7 year old comment you made.

I know this from Youtube, and the reaction of the people when a 4 hour old reply on a 11 year old comment gets answered is priceless

I'm perfectly fine with people responding to my old comments with something of relevance. Forum threads are a bit iffier--if it relates to the original topic, then a bump is okay, but if it's just to respond to another reply on the thread, then no, I'd avoid commenting.
