I'm fine with ignoring the standard in favor of using a common, broadly known term.

brings to mind more the anime trope of inadvertently seeing something sexual causing a rush of blood to the face, which in turn results in blood coming out of the nose, rather than a general bloody nose that could just as well be from a punch to the face or other physical trauma. The reverse makes better sense to me as a general catch-all.
