Topic: Tag alias: げきしろ -> Gekishiro1

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #48463 げきしろ -> gekishiro has been approved.

Reason: The name げきしろ, is the Japanese name of an artist who goes by the English Twitter name Gekishiro1. E621 typically prefers English names, so by recommendation of some helpful users in the forums, I figured I would make this alias request.
The pixiv link to げきしろ,, this has a link to their Twitter, to confirm that the names belong to the same author.

EDIT: The tag alias げきしろ -> gekishiro (forum #300083) has been approved by @bitWolfy.

🤔? :
gekishiro vs or gekishiro1...
Needless to say, I know it's the same person. But, the artist might not want to call himself that.
Perhaps he chose that name because the ID was already in use.
With that in mind, I feel we are better off choosing "Gekishiro".

I don't think that it's up to us to interpret what the artist wanted the username to be.

Their username is げきしろ on both Pixiv and Twitter. If e6 wants to move away from non-latin characters, the romanized name would be "Gekishiro". @gekishiro1 is their Twitter handle.

Twitter usernames, if legible and similar enough to the artist's transliterated alias, are generally the best option. There are exceptions for things like goroawase (most anglos won't recognize "2784u56" as funahashi_yugoro), but otherwise, these should generally be names that are easily usable when tagging and searching.

Twitter automatically appends a number to a handle if the name is shared with someone else (in this case, there's already an Gekishiro on Twitter). Still, the name is far from common; the tag should be "Gekishiro".

Making the alias げきしろ → gekishiro and stopping there would fail to account for people already tagging their uploads with their twitter username. A second alias with gekishiro1 → gekishiro would help fix this, but at that point, why bother? Why not just use gekishiro1, full stop?

Because that's not the artist's name?

It's the username they chose. The pattern for Twitter-suggested usernames is not to just add a random number on the end, but rather, a series of 8 digits.

I see....So, unless the artist decides on an English name, we should use the Twitter ID as it is, to distinguish it from other users/artists.

That's what I was thinking when I made this, but now I'm wondering if the number should be included or not, I mean, I don't think I can easily get an answer on if the one is supposed to be part of the name though.

I'm sure that "1" isn't part of the name. But in e6 tagging it would be attached.
