Topic: Upload Multiple files at once

Posted under General

Explain more. As in, multiple files for the same post? With identical tags to go along?

One reason why is because trolls will abuse it

Isn't that what the daily upload limit is for though? Might not be enough I guess.

Pretty sure he means adding tags, sources, and a description separately but on the same page.

I think he wants to do something like batch uploading, as in uploading multiple images all at once.

This makes me unreasonably irritated.

Just open the Upload link on 2+ different tabs, that's what I do when I want to upload multiple files

It's "a utility".

Nuh-uh. Afaik when there's two vowels (like up there) they have to be separated with a 'n' to avoid repeating sounds, or something like that

Except that the pronunciation of "utility" is "Yewtilitee," and Y as a pronunciation letter is not a vowel.

...Please tell me you're intentionally misspelling things here to make a joke of Grammar Nazis. I've been called a Grammar Hitler, simply because of how much I look into things and say "That's wrong" or "It needs this one little addition." Just do me a favor, and don't assume I'm always going to be right, because I won't. Hitler wasn't a perfect example of his ideals, and I'm not a perfect example of the ideals of grammar.

Are you dudes really going to go back and forth about this?

Oh, so it goes as pronunciation and not as literal writing.... note taken.

If it delved into that, I would stop, as my intention was simply to point out how it works.

Yes, so for abbreviated words that are pronounced as the letters, like "SUV," it's "Ess Yew Vee" and uses the added N.

I honestly think people should just stick to the existing upload set. It's not difficult at all to open multiple tabs for uploading if you need to, but if you tried uploading multiple images at once from the same page, the size would either be large enough that you have to keep scrolling around, or be too small to tell what you're doing.

I agree that it'd be cool to have multiple upload forms on one page for easy mass-uploading, I just don't know how long it'll be until we get around to implementing it since it's pretty low-priority compared to some other things we need to add/fix.

But yeah, if you really need a batch uploader you can use mine here. Keep in mind that it only supports remote image URLs, not local files.

My only concern would be if the tagging and sourcing would suffer or if it would ever get confusing which info goes to which upload if there's several being uploaded/filled out within the same page. But I guess that has more to do with how the page is designed, etc. Other than that, I can see how it could be handy.

I also had no idea about "an utility" vs "a utility" but that certainly explains why it just sounded wrong in my head. My learned knowledge of the rule was the same as Xch3l's was. So, despite years of subconscious observation that was letting me know it just "sounded wrong", I couldn't have identified what was actually wrong with it. It looked right; sounded wrong. I was two seconds away from googling it when I read the rest of the thread. So yeah, English trips up native speakers just as quickly as it does anyone else, I guess. It's certainly not the most straightforward language out there.

Check this out. On paheal, though they only allow character and copyright tags, has a system in place for multiple uploads. As you can see in the link, you can add tags that apply to each picture on the bottom and add tags that apply to each individual picture on the side. The same can be said for sources.

Lol, just remember that not everyone here is a native English speaker. I know for sure NMNY isn't, and I'm fairly sure Xch3l isn't either. Correcting grammar is fine if you're nice about it, and often even helpful to those learning the language, but pointing out grammar mistakes without corrections isn't even helpful :P

Not everyone is a native English speaker? When did this happen?!

But really, I know Xch3l's first language was Spanish… as I said, it was unreasonable. Honestly, I just assumed everyone would ignore my post.
I'm way off topic so I'll just stop now…

Oooohhhhh, I thought you meant it like "I'm so angry I can't even be reasoned with" instead of "I'm angry for a silly reason." Makes more sense, my bad.

But yeah, to stay on topic, I don't think it's a good idea anyway. I spend so much time tagging even just ONE image right that I would flip my shirt if I spent an hour tagging 5 images, hit the upload button, got an error, and returned to a page of completely wiped tag fields.

Hmm, but that being said, it could be slightly helpful for tagging image series, where only a few things change between images. You could still do it by opening multiple upload tabs though, so *shrug*
