Topic: What is the proper procedure for folks who WANT creepy comments?

Posted under General

I poured over the rules and looked through some old topics, but I haven't seen much more than the "how can a creepy site not allow creepy comments" debates of months gone by. Nothing too useful.

Admins seem to say to leave the creepy comments on the artist's page, but that assumes folks will bother going off site and that said artist isn't native to e621. If an e621-only artist asks for creepy comments, where do those creepy comments GO?

Is it acceptable to send creepy comments through DMs? Point users to where they can deposit any and all such comments in a submission's description? Or leaving a link in the description to where they can do so? Does it matter if the artist themselves they're okay with creepy comments in the submission's description? What's the procedure, here?

Unironically asking for a friend.

There is no procedure for people who want creepy comments. Don't do it.

Let's put it this way. If you went to, say, a bookstore, and they told you "no, put on clothes, we're not letting you in without clothes", it's not their job to come up with somewhere else you can go without putting on clothes. They don't need a procedure for people who don't want to wear clothes.

There might be places you can do that sort of thing. There might be nudist bookstores, and there are certainly other sites which do allow creepy comments. But it's not the job of e621 to have some procedure in place. The policy is "don't do that here", and it really is that simple.

I appreciate artists who properly upload their own stuff, but despice artists who only post their stuff here exclusively. Setting up discord or twitter isn't rocket science.
Also if artist is asking you to break rules, please report them.

We have already hidden the uploader of posts, which should even further highlight that just because you upload content and are fine with stuff, everything is still in one single big pool of content instead of your own private wall, account or server. You do also have to remember that with sites like furaffinity, artist can delete comments from their own posts for example, in here they cannot and we will not remove comments unless they are illegal.

It's a community standard, if an artist wants creepy comments, they're free to have them on their linked pages, e621 is not the place for them. If an artist only uploads here, then they have to abide by the site rules, which means no creepy comments.

Tis a very bad idea to do so. I have inadvertently, unintentionally done it and been nailed for it. So do it on purpose is asking to be kicked off here in short order. Quick way to shot yourself in the head as it were. Just do it at the source not here. Most artists who post certain kinds of things are inviting audience participation and response when they post it to their account on certain websites so go there and they will make you happy and appreciate your interaction. Most often they will play along and reward you for it. I have done this quite bit in the past. You can make new friends and end u with some pretty cool results. Just do not do it here, it is not permitted.
