Before the site change, I could click on the blank field on the landing page and it would bring up a drop-down of my most frequently searched tags. Convenient!
Now I can't seem to find a way to do that. Is there a way to set certain tags to be my favorites, so I can easily bring up a list of the things I like?

The new autocomplete feature disables the saved suggestions, unfortunately. You can disable autocomple in Settings > Advanced if you'd like.
What I do is use my profile page to list all the tags I check on the daily. I bookmark my e621 profile page then once a day I middle-click all the links to open all the searches in new tabs, and check out what new art relevant to me has been uploaded. Use the dtext tags to create a link list:

It ain't private, but I'm okay with that.
^ for that strategy, you can also add an age: clause to the queries now, eg anthro male_penetrating_female duo vaginal_penetration age:<=1day
Another strategy (which I prefer) is using e621's RSS support with a RSS reader, I put a link for that in my profile cause I'm tired of explaining it.
