It does seem like some bad assumptions were made about how to advertise the beta. Clearly there were many people who just never visited the forum, and so had no opportunity to find the link to the beta.

I only realized today there WAS a forum because I was looking for a place to give feedback on the new layout.

i did knew there was a forum, but, you know, i kinda visit this place for the furry porn, not the forum
LOL. Well, if it had nagged us on every login, or once a month or something... Meh, then people would be mad that it kept bugging them.
That's absolutely true, and that's the position any developer is in when they want to make breaking changes. No matter what you do or how you do it, you'll cop flak for it. So you just have to pick your poison.
I say this as someone who HATES HATES HATES random GUI changes: It looks fine on desktop. Barely anything changed. The "redesign" can barely be called that. They haven't abstracted away any important features or scrambled the layout or anything like that. It's still just danbooru.
Maybe you mean the mobile layout specifically? I've never used that, even the few times I've used e6 on mobile I sent a desktop user agent to get the normal site in waterfox and just used that.
You could swap the sites with almost no one noticing, but that takes a significant amount of additional work. From my understanding all the admins and developers on here do it all for free (BD owns the site but you guys aren't employees?), so I'm not going to complain about all the things they could have done better. As a non-professional swap of non-critical data, it's gone smoothly enough. Nice work. Sorry I couldn't add to the codebase. Maybe I'll have time to help out later.
