Topic: Why are certain pictures unavailable when logged off. The fuck is that about?!?

Okay so. As you can see from my account name, I mostly have this for emergencies. Emergency such that proved itself when I tried to look at pictures and saw that, while logged off, I can't fucking see 'em!!

Why is that? What reason is there for that??
And why is it that only some pictures appear like that while others don't? I know which tag appears to be getting blocked, I just don't know what in hell possessed you fellas to do this shit.

Sorry for any inconveniences. Some users seem to be disgusted by gore, scat, watersports, and explicit posts featuring underage characters. Please shut the crap up and login.

"JuSt LoGiN!!11!" Really? This was never needed before. If users don't like something, they use the blacklist feature or the -thingsIdon'tlike tag.

The fuck you going on about telling me to just bend over and accept shit like this?

I vaguely remember a talk about this.

We have some governments that have blocked us in their firewall, and others that directly message us to remove content because it's against their laws. Governments will do what they want (certain ones that start with R and C are the largest offenders of internet censorship) but the messaging ones are rather annoying. We also get a great deal of hate from just normal people for some of the content hosted and rather than continuing to deal with everyone messaging delete this, some content has been set to only be viewable if you have an account so you have to sign on to see it. And then if you have an account and you don't want to see something it can be blacklisted. That's probably not it exactly but that's the general idea.

Seriously though, just stay logged in and it doesn't effect you.

Because "shit like this" is easily solvable and you are overreacting for no reason. Deal with it.

That should probably be put in a cookie or session flag (with a toggle on the header or footer to set it) rather than just gated behind a user login. Sure, the flag might not persist indefinitely, but it gives anonymous users the option to still search for that material without an account while still "blocking" it from those sending you messages. I don't think that's going to stop those messages though.

My honest opinion:"Just login" is not a good excuse since multiple sites have started doing this. I refuse the idea of having to create an account, possibly across multiple sites, just to be able to use said sites how they were originally intended. Pardon my paranoia, but that's almost one step away from locking essential features behind a premium membership.

Not everything can be saved behind browser cookies and whatnot - it's often a good idea to have an account, whether it be a throwaway or not, so that you have access to various settings and options to tweak the site to your liking.

I understand wanting to be able to use a site without needing an account of some kind, but if it's a site you regularly return to constantly, it makes sense to have one for those reasons.

Registration walls are automatic failure of a public image site. XD

Also, we're feeding the trolls with responding to baiting replies. :/

Well, yeah, I would have thought this died several years ago, but it's baaaack. The new twist is you now have to login using Facebook or something equally nasty. You can't even make throwaway email accounts to prevent spamming, anymore, anyways. This is not 2010. They figured that one out and require you to buy a SIM card every time. :(

TBH, this is precisely what cookies are intended for, though.
