Topic: Tag Alias: musk -> invalid_tag

+1, A-fucking-GREED! It is so context sensitive, I would believe that it is purposely vague.

Seems like a step too far to invalidate it. It's mistagged a whole lot, even beyond where it's just a little vague, but there's still a lot of information that would disappear without putting in any alternatives. Seems better to eliminate it with projects than an alias.

What about posts like this one which deal with the concept of musk?

musk is a specific smelling scent, nothing in that image even vaguely suggests that there is that scent anywhere in that image. like thats not even "concept of musk", if anything, thats pheromones.

its way too frequently used to be just manually sorted rather than aliased to invalid tag or disambiguation page.

Disambiguation sounds reasonable, except I think you're right that it's so wildly misused in a lot of cases that it's not just a matter of disambiguating it from another similar thing. It gets used for basically any kind of smell or apparent sniffing, really. Almost would be easier to just rename it to olfactophilia, considering what it's used for.

Bumping because I was tried to suggest this again. It's still a complete mess with no actual common themes.

no common theme??

it's a broad term for "smell that comes from other person", and just by doing a quick search of the tag it looks pretty accurate. Not every tag has to be perfect, we can easily keep some of the subjective ones since they aren't really causing any problems

My own guide for stuff like this is to not add it unless I'm absolutely sure, and not remove it unless it's very clearly not applicable.

Why not a disambiguation for this? We'll never know if someday, "musk" can also mean a space rocket billionaire who laughs at a drowning deer.

That person's name is Elongated Muskrat, I don't know how the word musk fits in there
