Topic: Tag Implication: multiple_piercings -> piercing

How should this tag be used, outside of the obvious "more than 1 piercing"? I am sure some users are fine with a few piercings, but are not fine with seeing a face or genital full of metal. Should it be redefined or should we add an "excessive_piercings" tag where the requirement is something like >10?

I'd assume multiple would be "anything more than 1." (counting a matched set of ear holes as one, anyway...)

it is a bit vague though isn't it?

I do like the concept of excessive_piercings though, but perhaps not the wording as 'excessive' is a bit judgemental sounding.

It should be fairly easy to define these as I can't see much of an issue with counting piercings, the one piercing I had a bit of trouble with was corset_piercing as half of the corset piercings are often hidden. I would go by one=one for the sake of simplicity. A single stud in each ear is two piercings, so it gets multiple_piercings.

This would mean multiple_piercings gets tagged on the majority of posts as a single piercing seems less popular than multiple, so perhaps we could say multiple_piercings means >=3 instead of >1 (although that's fairly arbitrary)? excessive_piercings could use a better name, I agree, and if we use my previous statement then multiple_piercings would need a better name. Then it becomes hard to search for 1 or 2 piercing counts. We could go with a numerical system for the tag names but I can't think of a good way to make it not sound clunky or over complicate it. I don't think this option is a good idea however and would prefer the tags be used as initially presented.

Here are some visuals for piercing counts as 10 was just a number I picked since it is easy to remember if a decision is made to change the number required for "excessive". I tried to use portraits for visual clarity.
