...That looks like to be an apish creature that would live in a snowy region still. I don't see how that could result in a -1.

+1, it makes sense. Yeti is the older term for the species, with Abominable Snowman being a newer one.

They are not the Abominable* (autocorrect hates this word) Snowman, a specific character from some medias.

Effectively, Abominable Snowman is the character, Yeti is the species. And not all Yetis look like the Abominable Snowman.

Abominable snowman just refers to the idea of a fierce apish creature in the snowy mountains. Aka, a yeti. It's not a character, it's a species.

it is a character from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Monsters Inc., the Looney Tunes Show, Scoobie Doo, and likely others. they are all yetis, yes, but there are several instances where one yeti is called "(the) Abominable Snowman". it is their name, and it makes them a character.

And those can be tagged with a series specific suffix. Without the suffix, it's just a generic species, not a character.

the aliasing, then, needs to go to a disambiguation page, not to the species. there are at least 4 characters, and the species, all known in some way as "(the) Abominable Snowman". not 1 tag, but 5.

Oh, right. I forgot about disambiguation for a time. That certainly would work better.
