Reason:

Could mean multiple other tags, including fern_(artist), the plant ferns, and some characters with the name fern. I'd also like to suggest ferns be implicated to plant, since the tag seems to specifically cover the fern plant.

+1 to disambig, -1 to implication. I'd suggest an alias from ferns to fern_(disambiguation) since singular <- plural; implement a tag called fern_(plant) and have that imply plant instead.

It might seem unnecessary, but with ferns being literally one letter away from the disambiguation, and therefore any other intended tag starting with "fern", it's better to use a suffix to further identify that the plant is being referred to.

Lol! Right before making the OP, I had tagged 2 posts with fern_(plant) before discovering the ferns tag. I thought to myself, "perhaps I should retag those 2 posts from earlier," proceeded to retag them with ferns, then came up with the idea to make the OP. Damn, all that busy work I made myself do, lol!

But yeah, I'm thinking the fern_(plant) tag may work better, +1 for that instead.
