Topic: Waking vs. waking_up vs. awakening?

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

I feel like most people would say "wake up!" when trying to rouse a sleeping individual, along with other uses of the phrase. All of them are fine, but "waking up" seems to be the most current.

I've gone ahead and replaced waking, awakening and awaking with waking_up as it's the most commonly used tag.

I suggest aliasing those three tags to waking_up.

I'm not sure 'awakening' should be aliased. While one of its definitions can mean to wake up, whenever I see it in casual or formal language it's usually used for its other meanings (that being 'a revival of interest in something (such as religion)' or 'a coming into awareness').

I was going to start a new topic asking about this, but found this one. So, I was tagging and saw several tags with almost exact same meaning. Then went ahead and collected a bunch of other results in tag search. Sigh. Stats provided for convenience. Also, is there a way to make it automatically update those? I mean, besides the obvious and hackish BUR method that'll get you banned from BURs. XD
