There's also ribs.
Looking at how these are tagged, might be better to sort them into separate tags.

One for prominent ribs (mostly underweight characters, etc) and one for exposed ribs (gore, corpses, undead, etc). Not sure what to do with animated skeletons, a whole lot of of those have visible rib cages, but tagging every skeleton part seems redundant.

Was planning on having a look through after the alias went through :) I'd noticed a few posts were.. a bit misplaced (like post #1219154 which seems to be tagged rib cage in that he *has* one. :) )

Let's see, though...

Underweight characters should ... ..... how is there seriously not an 'underweight' tag? ...Oh, of course. It's under anorexia ... how sensitive.

.... for one, that is really an awful tag to use. I mean, anorexia is a mental illness. You can't *see it*. That tag's used on like 50 some odd images. They range from "art style makes them look skinny" to "actually anorexic" to "thin enough to be concerned" to "hanging in a dungeon and starving to death" and "magically drained" to "literally a starving child in Ethiopia." the fuck.

Okay. Anorexia cannot be seen, only assumed. It violates the idea of tag what you see, not what you assume.

(we also have skinny with like, 1075 posts and slim with 2523) ... I would... advise a tag to replace anorexia. Perhaps Seriously_underweight or even just underweight. I'd say "morbidly_underweight" to go with "morbidly_obese" but that seems a little dark. But that's neither here nor there.

We were here to talk about ribs.

For one, I don't think "subtle rib lines" are really worth? tagging. especially when paired with well muscled characters. Those are mostly likely not ribs, but actually muscle structure (the serratus anterior muscles, I believe, but don't quote me.)

post #1367798 post #1347399 post #1018359

That said, some characters are absolutely skinny enough that their ribs are showing and that SHOULD be tagged.

Skeletons ... already have animated_skeleton so that should suffice for them :)

Let's see...

  • So skinny ribs are showing -> Skinny_ribs? Ribs_are_showing? :)
  • Gorey ribs -> exposed ribs? (i'd say exposed rib cage, 'cept not everyone 'cages' them together.)
  • Bones laying around -> rib_cage

Oooor...

skinny ribs -> skinny_ribs
Gorey ribs -> exposed_ribs

and... does 'rib cage' really need to exist? I mean... if you're not looking for someone super skinny, or gore/corpses, or skeletons... then.. I think you're more looking at 'ambient, laying around bones' like in post #907693 or post #932531 ... Maybe abandoned_bones or discarded_bones? (Bones, not ribs, because I don't think anyone's going to care if it's specifically a ribcage over there.

Though there is the problem of the bones that imply a recent meal... post #1378745 post #623208

Anyway, point is, maybe rib cage is a little too vague considering all the different ways people COULD mean it?

(as usual, I don't mind going through ribs, rib cage and ribcage to get things appropriately tagged ... and said tags can probably get some extra use after a stroll though bone, skull, etc. though that's a larger task I'm not sure I'm up to right now.)
