Reason:

different terms that stand for the same thing, shading done with dots rather then lines or washes.

They're not the same things, they're just very similar.

This stippling thing looks like screentone to me.

There's tons of dithered stuff under stippling and not much anything under pointillism, so in any case, tags are wrongly used and undertagged.
