leaf umbrella is not an umbrella, its a leaf. if you use random object to shield yourself from rain, it doesnt become an umbrella. if you use a chair in same manner as umbrella, its still a chair and not an umbrella.

So, basically, umbrella refers to the device while a dunolly† of any sort, be it leaf, newspaper, or whatnot, would be anything that's not the specific device itself being used in its stead.
