Reason:

Also commonly called leks or lekku

they are tentacle like extensions of the head often used for gestures and communication in a couple species in star wars(may be found in other fictional species as well). regarded also as outgrowths of the brain and very sensitive.

Does a tail become a tentacle by simply relocating it? What if the head tail still looks and functions exactly like a tail?

Sincerely, "head_tails" doesn't seems to be the most accurate term, maybe we should alias it to "head_tentacles" since both aparently are enough similar (if not the same).

You might also want to take into consideration the tag head_tail, for a singular tail attached to the head.

I thought we're using head_tentacles for tentacles, and head_tail for tails. How did this get to hundreds of posts? ...ah, I see. It was recently mass-tagged. :/

Head_tails should be either manually sorted (mostly to head_tentacles), or disambiguated. Because we kind of need the head_tail tag for these:

mass-tagged, you say it as if its a bad thing but all of you do do it.

For reference the appendages on the heads of many starwars based species are in fact oft referred as head_tails

The examples you posted genjar would go under head_tail singular.

mind you but it would be head_tentacles that need to be disambiguated sense it is a complete mishmash of flesh_whiskers, barbels, head_tails, tentacle_hair and others where as head_tails was already pretty clean to begin with.

Soloing is not recommended, that's even mentioned in the guidelines: Don't create tags [...] without at least mentioning it in the forums. Having a set of tags that everyone agrees upon, especially concerning how and how not it's used, makes all the difference.

Anyway, head_tail for singular tail, and head_tails for multiple tentacles? That seems way too easy to mix up, considering that we usually alias multiples to singular. Minus one for that.

Head_tentacles might also require disambiguation, though I'd consider it to be an umbrella tag for all head tentacles, including tentacle_hair.

Might I point out that I did not create the tag, I just populated it with more of the single type of content it already started out with. And far as confusion goes, I did look over both and there is no evidence of that but it would by true that having both plural and singular forms of the same tag would be in consistant but we still have not agreed on if all tags on e621 should be plural, singular or forms for both existing.
