It tells that someone's posing. That seems useful enough. I've definitely found it handy for tagging projects, etc.

But what doesn't count as posing? Like I said, it's too generic.

I'd be okay with something like dramatic_pose.

A person walking is not posing. They are not presenting themselves to try to gather attention (to one or more aspects they have). A salesman pose could be the arms-out, "greet the crowd" look, usually with something in hand to help gather attention, before pitching a sale. A writing pose has specific emphasis, where one hand weighs down the paper and/or straightens it, and the other grasps the writing tool but does not actually write. The elbow is often off parallel to the hand, but some people don't write like that so it is not necessary.

As stated, posing requires positioning to gather attention. It also requires (usually) small details that may not be easily seen, but can be noticable. If you remember the Ginyu force's little jig, each singular pose doesn't look like much (because of context), instead it's when you see them all that makes said describable as a pose.

All and all, it depends on actions they are doing, and whether or not it is done to gather attention; noticable details that is meant to keep attention, and the context it is in.
