Let me hear your thoughts about said trailer and your speculations in regards to the remake in general.

ah, i can't say much as i couldn't play it if i wanted to but the new graphics do look great and it does sound interesting that the game is making the transition from turn based combatto real time combat. i wonder how well the whole materia system and summons will work with that.

just think, Cloud Strife surrounded by an army of monsters when suddenly theres this loud BOOM! and next thing you know theres this massive sphere of NASTY green/black energy exploding outwards as a magical nuke. (Ultima ;)) that'd be pretty cool to see. as would the various summons like Bahamut's different variations and maybe the Knights of the round.

at least it's not yet another re-release. and while i won't be able to play it myself, seeing let's plays of it will probably be pretty fun.

oo, i wonder if Cid will still be as awesome as in the original game. lol profanity and all! or possibly even more so.

It'll be just as mediocre as the actual Final Fantasy 7, but at least it'll look pretty so cloud can look super emo in high definition and sepphiroth can look suuuuper gay. So I guess the fanboys can wank over it non stop at least.

And once more we'll be subjected to the superwank that is the fanboys collectively jizzing over one of the most over-rated FF games in the franchise, only worse. Goody.

What crawled up your ass, vomited, and died? I get that some people don't like this game. I get that the game is overrated but I don't get why people like to take a huge dump on things that are popular.

Final Fantasy VII was a 7.5/10 for me. I actually prefer XII over it and Disgaea over all Final Fantasy, but I'm legitimately excited for this remake because I like the way the combat system seems close to Kingdom Hearts which was what even got me to even look up Final Fantasy in the first place. I'm definitely saving for this one.

Okay, you really want me to rip it apart. Alright, It'll look bloody brilliant, that's a given. It's gonna look as brilliant as FF13X2 did, and the sound acting from what little I've heard sounds decently enough, so you know, points there.

Now heres where it falls apart: They've revamped the combat system, and from what they've shown, it's gonna play like FF13X2, or maybe FFXV depending on how 15 plays, that's not a good thing for any of the old fans, especially considering that FF13 and 13X2's combat system is really just not that fun, and that you set it up in even a similar way, you're looking at a game that plays itself. I won't judge it too harshly because the gameplay was at least "Fluid" for the most part, but still relatively mediocre compared to its contemporaries at the time of release, and the contemporaries its going to be fighting upon coming out.

Besides beret {And tifa if huge knockers are your thing} the characters "Still" aren't visually appealing, and unless they rewrote the dialogue to be less clunky, the V.A won't save that , couple this with the it's relatively mediocre story-line , unless that is "also" changed, theirs really little to be excited for besides "Look its got voice acting and pretty graphics!" And those really should be expected par-the-course for a square game these days; so far I'm seeing nothing "Standing out" about FF7V2.

So what you're looking at is going to be literally mediocre all around except for par the course for square enix "beautiful" graphics and maybe-good voice over, and of course, a brilliant probably remixed soundtrack because thats something that square enix has always done.

And yes, the fandumb does have to come into play on this, because they're going to ruin it for everyone, just as they managed to drive an amazing amount of hatred into old fans of the game by praising 7 as the magnum opus of Final Fantasy, they'll latch onto this just as hard, with the added bonus that the new combat system is going to drive a big fat juicy wedge right between them, sparking a whole new "They changed it now it sucks!" war.

And if what Jugs has said is true ,that's just an extra nail in the proverbial coffin, anything else?

Of all the topics I've seen on this forum, it is always the most inconsequential that seem to start flame wars. Aeon and Rena, you are both being jerks.

What are my thoughts on the remake?

Well, I won't be able to play the game. I don't have whatever system it will be coming out on. So I'll admit I haven't looked at it that much from that perspective.

But overall it seems fine to me. Nothing struck me as horrible about it that I've seen. The graphics are improved. Even I'll admit that, and I am a weirdo who's generally a fan of older low-poly graphics. The voice acting seems reasonable (though I prefer just reading what the characters have to say usually).

I guess what I'm saying is that I'm a curmudgeon who doesn't like newfangled game design, and even I'll admit this seems nice.

I liked FFVII overall. I'd probably like this too. I think FFX has been my favorite of the series thus far, but admittedly I've only played up to XII, and I've missed some in the middle there that are highly regarded (VI).

Not sure, maybe this is just a "Filthy Casual" trait but I'm deadset on getting that game simply because of 5 reasons
1) It's really pretty
2) As a whole I enjoyed Final Fantasy VII and it's spin-offs

4)From what I understand It plays like Kingdom Hearts and that is my 2nd favorite Playstation game series.
5) I've been waiting years for this and the only thing that would stop me from buying this game at it's release is if Kingdom Hearts III took my money already.

In terms of Final Fantasy games, the very first one I've played is Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (GBA). The first main FF game I've played is Final Fantasy IV (DS), and it was absolutely amazing. Since then, I've played Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift, and all of the main FF games from I to V.

Now I'm on Final Fantasy VI Advance (GBA).

As for the FF7 remake? It's still a long ways away, so I'm better off playing the original for now.

I really want to play ff10 again...but don't have a ps2 no more. Dx

i eventually beat that games final boss but yeah, definately not one of FF's finer moments. might play it again to finish the mark challenges but those deformed, long legged, turtles can go F themselves.

vercin...vercingetorix? i don't remember the final marks name right offhand but that's probably the only thing in that game i was always looking forward to fighting as it'd probably be the closest alternative to an omega weapon. long gui...yeah, no, that ain't happening EVER. not when it can give a game over with a single Fing footstep of all things.

FFIV:the later years: ok, this one was just them chopping up a game into DLC sized chunks with the intent of nickel and diming fans. theres no way i could approve of that. though i will admit, with the day/night system and maybe a few other things they did make some nice changes.
