Topic: E621 TLS error?

Posted under General

So i've been unable to access e621 for quite a while now. 3 Months i think. The only way i could do it was to use a site unblocker, but that just aint doing it for me.

Today i decided to look into the issue and apparently all of my browsers get a similar kind of error.

Firefox was the only one to give me an explanation and apparently its a TLS arror (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/tls-error-reports).

I dont know if that is actually the case, but the whole situation has been nothing but a bummer. I've tried everything save for buying a VPN to access the website and it all fell through.

Maybe you guys know anything about this? I would very much appreciate any help!

Russia. For the longest time i've used the free google DNS to circumvent the block, ant it was working until some time ago.

What OS are you using? (e.g., Windows XP, Mac OS X 10.5)
Are you using a DNS server like OpenDNS or Google DNS? (your ISP should have its own DNS server, but you can manually change it)

Edit: Try changing over to OpenDNS and see what happens. Note that if it blocks adult content, you may need to make a free account to disable that.

e621.net is blocked. Whole CloudFlare IP range used by e621 has HTTPS blocked, and given e621 can only be accessed using HTTPS, you're out of luck.

Tor should work.

Nice find. Yeah if Russia is doing that then there isn't a whole lot you can do. VPN or Tor would be your best bet here.

Also e926.net doesn't have forced https, so that should work as well (no adult content though).

Wasn't e621 blocked in Russia

It is. Which is why i am using a third-party DNS server. IT helped until this moment.

Windows 8, iOS - both refuse to open e621.

I am using GoogleDNS. It worked fine for quite a while.

Edit: Try changing over to OpenDNS and see what happens. Note that they do block adult content by default, so you would have to make a free account to adjust those settings (I'm pretty sure you need an account at any rate).

I have registered an account, and now its promting me to install something. While i am no stranger to installing dubious programs on my computer, i am inclined to leave it as a last resort. Thanks for the advice anyway.

Whats a Tor?

Nice find. Yeah if Russia is doing that then there isn't a whole lot you can do. VPN or Tor would be your best bet here.

I am not sure i want to pay money to access a single website, so i don't think i will be using VPN. Dont know what Tor is, so gonna look into that. Maybe thats help :)

If you were sentenced to hanging/lashing/whatever for looking at furry porn, do you think the International Community(tm) would petition to have you pardoned?
Maybe they'd put in a good word because you're a Christian...

You should be able to use it without installing anything, but it's a pretty well known DNS so it should be safe (I probably wouldn't install it anyways, because I doubt it's actually necessary).

Tor is hard to explain, but it's kind of like a VPN. But instead of using a 3rd party server to route your traffic, you shove the traffic through a random path of computers located all around the world.

It's more complicated than that and it has different security concerns, but it's probably close enough. :P

Only if it's watching child pornography, akin to Jared Fogle (the Subway Guy).

I bet the creators of South Park felt like psychics when they heard about his arrest.
