A book is a set or collection of written, printed, illustrated, or blank sheets, made of paper, parchment, or other various material, usually fastened together to hinge at one side. Books are works of literature, or a main division of such a work.
Something you should be reading, instead of looking at pornography. Disregard that I suck cocks.
The ancestor of the book is the "codex", which looks and feels just like a book, but is a word reserved for stuff that is old. Before that, everybody wrote things on scrolls. Of course the writing was important, having been invented to record taxes on goats and wheat, and therefore you'll find most ancient texts have to do with endless amounts of goats and wheat. But the scroll was a medium which was hard to read, and clunky to store. So then the codex came around, and it immediately became obsolete by the time everybody learned how to make a codex.
Typically when you have a book, you are also reading it. For your reference, here is how to read a book:
1. Open book.
2. Comprehend words.
3. Close it.
Doing this every day will make you the smartest kid on the block, unless it's porn. Disregard that, I suck cocks.
