Just to clarify, as it currently stands, a person who messes up gets a neutral which, if they don't mess up for 6 months, falls off. If they mess up again in those 6 months for the same thing (bad tagging, for example) it's a permanent negative Warning.

Hope that helps :)

Ah, ok. That makes sense. =^.^=

True, you do :)

The Code of Conduct states that Notifications (which are neutral) fall off after 6 months.

Clarification for the clarification! One more, and we have inception.

▼ old CoC

Hello everyone.

Last week, it was announced that today would be the day that we show what we've been working on. A lot of feedback, a lot of concern, and worry, but I wanted to assure you that these are fixing existing rules and making the others more clear. No more loopholes, no more double-standards.

No one is going to enforce these with an iron fist, everything is going to be regarded with intent. Everything is able to be appealed if there is a dispute and, as always, we are here for you.

Comments and feedback are welcome! Please keep criticism constructive, and absolutely no flaming or hating. If you don't like something, tell us why. If you do like something, tell us why.

Without further adieu...

e621 Community and Forums Code of Conduct

Last Updated: 9/24/13

▼ Code of Conduct Introduction

The forums and website are here to provide you with a friendly environment where you can discuss ideas, give advice, and converse about other aspects of e621 with fellow members. The community forums and primary website are at their best when participants treat their fellow posters with respect and courtesy. Therefore, we ask that you conduct yourself in a civilized manner while participating in these forums.

The guidelines and rules listed below explain what behavior is expected of you and what behavior you can expect from other community members. Note that the following guidelines are not exhaustive, and may not address all manner of offensive behavior. As such, the forum moderators shall have full discretion to address any behavior that they feel is inappropriate. Also, suspension or banishment from the posting section of the website will always result in the same regard to forum access. Your access to the forums and website is a ‘privilege’, and not a ‘right’. We reserve the right to suspend your access to the forums and website at any time for reasons that include, but are not necessarily limited to, your failure to abide by these guidelines. In addition, these guidelines are not enforced on the e621 IRC channel, or similar off-site social channels. Likewise, any guidelines in use for the e621 IRC channels, or similar off-site social channels will not affect your access on the forums or website. Please note that the application of these rules varies based on the section of the website it is posted. Some things are OK to be as part of a 'Post' submission to the website, whereas it would not be OK as part of a 'Forum Thread'.

We reserve the right to evaluate each incident on a case by case basis. The action we take may be more lenient or more severe than those listed under each category:

▼ Disciplinary Actions

Disciplinary Actions
When a member is found to have violated the Code of Conduct in one or more ways, disciplinary actions will be given from a site administrator in the form of a neutral or negative record. It will contain the specific rule that was broken, and the offending post (or hyperlink to offending post). This is a breakdown of how the disciplinary actions will work:
1. Notification (neutral record): This will serve as an advisement that you have violated the Code of Conduct.

  • If you broke the Code of Conduct in multiple ways that warrant a Notification, everything will be summarized in a single record

2. Warning (neutral record): This will serve an official warning that you violated the Code of Conduct.

  • If you broke the Code of Conduct in multiple ways that warrant a Warning, everything will be summarized in a single record

3. Suspension (negative record): This is a temporary two-week ban from the site and forums.

  • If you committed an offense that warranted Suspension, and another one that warranted a Warning, you will only receive one negative record summarizing all offenses. Treat the Warnings as if they were part of the Suspension instead of as Warnings.

4. Ban (negative record): This is a permanent ban from e621.net and all other affiliates. This is reserved for repeated offenses and serious violations of the Code of Conduct

  • If you wish to appeal your ban, you may contact the Lead Admin

Contact
Dave Reynolds (Lead Admin) – [email protected]
Aaron Urbina (Admin) – [email protected]
Tsukaza (Admin/Takedowns) – [email protected]
Varka (Owner) – [email protected]

Also, I fixed the dtext in "Contact Information" and "These guys can help you with questions in a language besides English.".

No idea why but office broke that.

Edit: More DText fixed, this time in the "Code of Conduct Policy Categories" section.

"Refusal to Use Blacklist
Suggested Suspension Length: 3 to 7 days
This category includes:

Creating posts, threads, or comments that complain about artwork that can be blacklisted
Wrongfully claiming lack of knowledge about the blacklist system to avoid punishment from the previous rule
This is intended to reduce or eliminate the complaints that users make about seeing a certain type of content on the site. If a user chooses, or refuses, to utilize the blacklist, but continues to complain about content they find offensive or unsatisfactory, then this rule may be enforced. Additionally, if a user finds a post that is incorrectly tagged and willingly chooses to complain about seeing it instead of placing the correct tag, this rule may also be enforced then."

This is the best part of this update, in my opinion.

Agreed

So now all warnings are red marks and not gray? Than what is the point of gray marks falling off after 6 months? is it just because there will only be red in the future?

Conker said:

No, a grey notification is the first thing, a happy reminder to please stop that, a red warning is the second thing, a not so happy reminder that this is against the rules, then a short, red suspension to make them read the rules and finally a red ban to tell them to kindly fuck off.

That is also basically how it was always done, it was just not written like that in the old CoC, compare "Disciplinary Actions" now and then.

I'm curious, what is the origin of the no Role-Play rule? I have never partaken in it myself, but I've seen it on other forums and it didn't seem offensive?

Daggett said:

Given the nature of the site, role-players tend to make it erotic ("I want to [action] inside [character's bodypart or hole] really hard" or something along those lines)

Give somebody the power to RP and they do the most creepy things they can where everybody can see. RP is allowed in non-public places like DMail

Ya, before that rule it got pretty gross here. So it was for people's sanity and to not creep out artists to the DNP list

Wait a sec, I saw a ticket recently that says that there is a rp exception of a one-off post intended for humor. https://e926.net/tickets/show/8175

Why do we have this sudden change? Shouldnt we keep to "no rp posts" at all so no one is confused thinking its alright to make them? I just dont see why we have this exception for rp posts. Could someone explain?
