Why others hate furries?

In category: General

I noticed this more when Splatoon 2 had tons of furry posts.

It's fine on sites like this on other sites, games and so on people are usually hatin' on furries. They are always "Yiff in hell, furfags!" and I don't really know why exactly. I mean we all have our fetishes but what makes them hate furry stuff so much?

I think it has something to do with the fact that the furry subculture usually has fetishes that would be considered "bizarre" or "gross" to most non-furries, and the fact that furries embrace their lifestyle and are sometimes pretty open, public, and/or in-your-face with it. I think.

Nothing wrong with being a furry, people just need to be more reasonable and open-minded.

we jack off to animals. why do you think people hate furries.

the typical conundrum is as follows:

1. be subjected to new information
2. compare information to current worldview
3. accept or deny information based on how it makes you feel

naturally furries cause all sorts of odd feelings for an unimaginative and braindead populace, and so they are universally rejected by those who lack the maturity to accept what is ultimately a harmless subculture.

Some people are afraid of the unknown, the different, or what they just don't understand, and turn that fear into anger and hatred.

The worst parts of the furry fandom are usually the only parts outsiders will encounter.

The open nature of the furry subculture means rejects from subcultures have a place to stay and collect. All the undesirables unable or unwilling to change eventually end up here, and then continue with their behavior reinforced from a positive echo chamber.

Whenever "normal" people encounter a furry in places that aren't designated furry places it's usually the type of furry that is overly in your face sexual and cringy, because they fill their lack of personality and social skills with rampant sexuality and trying to make noise to get attention.

Obviously to everyone else this is greatly annoying and thus the stereotype that furries need to be purged got born.

Oh, also the trivializing of zoophilia, bestiality, and cub porn in art (thankfully not nearly as much in real life) combined with negative media press of fuck suiters all help with the negative view others have of the fandom.

It's because people are quick to hate things they don't understand.

Anything straying from the norm will be looked down upon. Then, in 20 years, it will be a trend.

no one really does. furries just tend to be better troll bait/obnoxious in public to compensate for being shy. plus they tend to be more ugly/autistic than the average demographic.

it's just an oddity that makes people wonder. really not much different from being a member of any other fandom.

On the contrary, I find that furries tend to be very anti-zoophile. There are a lot of zoophiles in the furry community, statistically speaking, and a fair number of supporters, but the opposition to zoophilia is likewise strong. It is one of those issues where many people are ignorant or neutral among the regular population, but among furries, knowledge and association leads to more polarization, meaning simultaneously more support and more hate.

Basically, I don't think there's much trivializing going on - if anything, the attitude of "it's not a big deal" is more common outside of the fandom, though less commonly heard because zoophilia is such a taboo subject.

I might be wrong, of course, but that's been my experience.

To the uninitiated that split in the community might as well not exist. In my experience the only people who will bring zoophilia or bestiality up outside of the fandom itself will be supporters of it. Likewise all drawn porn of ferals will still be linked to bestiality regardless of supposed mental capacity of the characters inside.

Just to be sure, everything I've said is how the furry fandom appears to outsiders, and the kind of furry people will most likely encounter first, or at least be able to link to the furry fandom.

Like, over the past 10 years on various pages or online games that having to do with the furry fandom the only furries you will find, and be able to identify as furries, are people searching for their e-rp guilds (in games 16+), people with obnoxious signatures pimping out that they're furries, people who openly e-rp (or at least try to) in groups with other people, post on imgur about how they fist horses for a living and get off to that, and similar things where they try to insert them being furries into places where it's not relevant or actually annoying everyone else.
The actually decent people who would be able to leave a positive impression on outsiders are the ones you don't hear about. They know everything has a time and place, and for example in games ensure they don't annoy other people with their dealings, so they stay invisible.

It's always the vocal minority of a community that colours the perception of every other member of that community. It doesn't help that the loudest members of a community are often the crazy ones. You can't really blame the silent majority for staying silent.

virtually everything popular now would have made you a social outcast just twenty years ago if you were into it (anime, comic books, weed, video games, electronic music, hip-hop, to say nothing of furries).

the lead e621 admin once again betrays his German roots by not using the far cooler ESRB rating system.

This. People see the 1% of every group and never the 98% of a group. One bad apple ruins a group and causes people to think that everyone in a group is the same way.

Except the German USK uses a similar system where 16+ is a rating.

Isn't USK more like PEGI than ESRB?

I'd say that's one side of it. The other side is the 98% generally failing to call out the 1%. It's not as if they necessarily APPROVE, but to the 1%, silence IS tacit approval.

(I think people in the furry community often appreciate how emotionally negative an experience ostracism can be, but then make the unjustified assumption that they shouldn't inflict rejection on others. Result: the 1% lack a proper sense of boundaries, and no-one helps them fix that.)

(BTW: 98+1 = 99. What is the other 1% supposed to be? ;)

The ones that do call out that 1% and get branded as kink shamers?

those who contribute to society.

never in my life will i get the whole "fursecution" thing, and i've loved the art for nearly a decade. i'll wear anthro merch at my workplace on days off and no one gives a damn. it's one of those things where a group shouts how much the media/world hates them ten times more than people actually hate them.

shit my goons used to make jokes about me and yiff all the time when we would hang (never let J drive though motherfucker always veered around going 90 on the freeway just to prank us jfc). and we'd mess with one about liking hentai or another for being a prude christfag who felt guilty about watching porn (K E K).

like, just be a likeable person and people will like you. "hey i'm likeable greg and me and my wife dress up in animal people suits and fuck sometimes". "oh really i don't like you anymore greg" - no realistic conversation ever.

It's what happens when a meme meets the typical normie's feelings about bestiality, regardless of whether or not bestiality is actually present. Diaperfur, pedophilia, vore, etc. are just icing on the cake. A number of flurries (furry snowflakes) interact with the normies on platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Reddit, Tumblr, etc. which leads to more hate.

The hate is not too much different from what homosexuals have faced. But unlike homosexuality, there is no path to the mainstream for these fetishes. The hate will only get stronger once someone makes headlines with creative gene editing.

In the real world nobody really gives a shit. I really don't worry at all about wearing a fursuit in public in appropriate venues (Halloween and the like) even in areas I'm terrified to come out about my sexuality.

Key words there being "in appropriate venues". Do it while buying groceries and you'll get a lot of weird looks.

as you will if you go in drag. or cosplay. or with mismatched clothing. or super dirty. or in an expensive suit. etc. that's just cause it's an oddity and oddities earn odd looks. you would give the same in the opposite position, no harm by it.

Weird looks aren't dangerous or even necessarily hateful. I'd still feel safer wearing my fursuit out to the grocery store than I would wearing a pride t-shirt.

idk I would ask for Kevlar lining in your fursuit. Make it safer than body armor?

the true sign of a quality fursuit is its natural parrying of an American made combat knife - just like the Soviet greatcoats of old.

who needs kevlar when you have love?

i love my pride beanie but i always feel unsafe wearing it out without packing heat. always funny when furries or any kind of people try to claim "we go through even worse than gay men!"

twice as many gay men (percentage-wise) are victims of violent, registered hate crimes in the US than all races' race-related violent crimes combined. in around a majority of the world you can kill a man for being gay. and the dominant world religion is loaded with bullshit about us (but those lesbian harems are pretty hot tho amirite).

meanwhile, there were two benign gas bombs set off at two furry conventions through all of history and no one was injured. and 90% of the world's children don't grow up being told you're an evil pedophile if you're a furry. anyone who really preaches that shit deserves all the mocking and degradation the internet is capable of. like, mentally brutalize the loser into some serious social anxiety and then laugh at him more lmao

I've never heard any furry say that. I probably didn't look hard enough, but I'm glad I didn't.

You can't defeat the monsters by becoming one yourself.

how is it monstrous to be soft-skinned and claim your fandom's persecution is greater than what anyone else has to deal with? tormenting then is a matter of pleasure, not "battling monsters"
