Why is the site called e621 (and e926)?

In category: General

Something that's puzzled me for a while is why the sites are called e621 and e926. Is there any specific reason behind the name?

Heh, thanks. That's clever as fuck.

I mean I could totally meme this thread up and say e621 is called e621 because e621 is sodium/salt, as a reference to all the salty people in comments.

Except it isn't.

MSG =/= Salt.

From Wikipedia: Monosodium glutamate (Redirected from E621)

Monosodium glutamate (MSG, also known as sodium glutamate) is the sodium salt of glutamic acid, one of the most abundant naturally occurring non-essential amino acids.[Manuf. 1] Monosodium glutamate is found naturally in tomatoes, cheese and other foods.[1]

Yes. /A/ Sodium salt. Not the same as sodium chloride, Which is the type of 'salt' salty usually implies.

E621 = MSG, gives things a "meaty" flavor. It's a dick joke.

E926 = Chlorine dioxide, used for bleaching. I don't think I need to explain.
